  • My home Reef Zeovit setup

    Hi.
I am reefer for nice couple years, but it is my first tank which I would like to run with Zeovit method.
I have started the tank 11 weeks ago with 14 days cycling method ( zeobak, zeostart and sponge power)
There are about 30 frags of SPS , few LPS on the booton and fw fish.
Tank is running on dry rock .
I will look for advices and help from the forum side, as I am totally new to this method.
    Thank you

    Welcome to ZeoVit.com !

At the moment I would recommend you to stay with the basics, the system is still very young and as you have used just dry rock the cycle will still need additional time. At the moment I would not add additional fish as the processes to process nutrients are not really strong at this stage. This will prevent a increase of nutrients.

If you like to you can post some more details about your system:

      Thank you Alexander .

I do weekly test and every single week NO3 is zero, PO4 is 0,02-0,04.

Here are more details about my system:

Thank you for the additional details, looking good.

Your dosing regimen sounds good, also nutrient concentrations are low already which is basically a good sign.

At the moment I would recommend to stay with those thee products.

Do the corals you already have in the system started to grow already ?

Thank you so much for advices.

Yes, I think corals are started growing, beacuse alkanity a little dropping everyday.

G.Alexander, what would you recomende to buy for future to keep corals and system healthy? I want use Coral System in future , but what can I use with it to keep my tank clean and corals healthy?
I am asking because is a good offer for Korallen Zucht products in one of the shop, and I want to buy now whatever I should I use in future.

          Thank you

My experience with the Coral System is limited however some additional products you can use are BioMate, CoralSnow, CoralVitalizer, SpongePower and ZeoZym. They all have a positive impact to the biology except CoralVitalizer which is a excellent food source for the corals.

Thank you so much. I will get them and try to use in future when system will be ready for it.

Should I still dosing Zeobak and Zeostart in future, or not?

I would personally do as it does improve the systems biology, a component which is not a part of the CoralSystem.

                    Can I ask for helping?
I dose only zeobak, zeostart3 and sponge power, all follow instructions. Today is over 4 months since I started my tank. Last week I started loosing acroporas. They started loosing tissue from bottom for a couple days, and then RTN on them. I lost 3 milliporas, 2 nice pieces of indo acros and today I see SSC is doing this same.
Two- three weeks ago all those I lost and those what is bleaching, were fine with polyp extension .
What could happen? What am I doing wrong.
                    Parametrs
                    Temp 25-26 °C
                    Salinity 1025
                    Ph 7,8
                    Kh 7.9
                    Mg 1260
                    Ca 440

                    PO4 0.03

Can you please post some more details ?

                      Actual dosing regimen
                      ZeoVit quantity and reactor flow
Carbon quantity and brand / reactor or mash bag

Also some picutres of the affeced and helathy corals would be good.

Have you changed anything in the last 4 weeks ?

                      G.Alexander

                        Hi.

                        I dose:
                        Zeobak 2xweek 6 drops
                        Zeostart3 1ml daily
                        Spostartsonge 3 drops daily
                        Cyanoclea 3xweek 6 drops.

I have 1,5 liters of Zeovit media in flow 360 l/h
Active carbon Fauna marin L : 300ml in mash bag in good flow place.

I do every week 10% water change.

                        Today's test shows PO4 0 , and NO3 0.1.

Some acroporas stopped polyping a while ago and part of them started striping from bottom and suddenly RTN got on them.
Some acroporas like Tenius seem to be good with polyp extension.

The dosing regimen is fine for the system volume so I would rule this out as the reason. I have no experience with Fauna Marin carbon so can not commend on it but if you know people using this brand on a nutrient poor system I would tend to rule it out also.

Do you keep plating montipora corals or a hystrix ? If do they should any kind of issues or does they grow well ?

Which additional korallenzucht products do you already own ?

Are the Acropora corals have a thin tissue ? Do the tissue looks like dried out if you remove a coral for 30 seconds from the water or does it stay “slimy” ?

Have the corals shown growth before the issues with TN have started ?

Yes, I keep plate montipora , green , red and purpure, they look good I think. The photo is not good quality becaose they are in the back of tank.

Additional product I have is A-Balance and ZeoSpur, it was remain after previous tank. And coral scnow is on the way to me.

It doesn't seem that tissue are super thin, the acroporas are in very lights colour, some of them without any colours. Today next coral acropora Pikachu started stripping (see photo)

I think they were fine in past 2-3 weeks. they had god polip extention , so it means they are grew. I see that for last week or two , kh consuption is zero. I stopped dose kh solution, but alkanity level is same , it doesn't drop.

I can not see the condition of the montiporas very clear in the picture, I have asked to get a idea if the K+ level of your system is to low because of a incorrect test result. If plating montiporas do get light thinner tissue and decrease in growth it is often a leak of potassium. Finally they start to loose their tissue especially in the middle section.

As you have reported a decrease of KH consumption I would also cross check the KH test you use with a different one to make sure it is giving you a correct reading.

Otherwise I can not see anything problematic, have you added any kind of new technical equipment or filtration material in the last 4 weeks ?

To rule out any kind of a element imbalance I would try to do three water changes each 10% within the next 10 days.

To support your corals you can additional speed down the ZeoVit reactor flow to 2/3 but keep a close eye on the PO4 and NO3 level, both should not increase.
