  • Rapid necrosis sps

    Good Morning

I haven't been able to stain acroporas for a few months. I buy the frag`s that are beautiful at the time but the other day they are completely white and without fabrics, I cannot understand what is wrong and I am getting a little demoralized with the situation.
However, the soft corals and some sps that I have had for a long time are fine.
I will try to explain my aquarium succinctly:
    Aquarium with 1600 lt
    Bubble king skimmer 300
    GNC lighting
    Maxpect circulation
I've been doing zeovit since January this year, after an invasion of cyanos.
At this moment without almost cyanos.
    Parameters
    KH 7.5 KHDirector
    Calcio 420 + -
    Magnesio 1300 + -
    Po4 0.10 hanna
    No3 <2
    Thanks for the help
    Best regards,

    António Seita

Hello Antonio and welcome to ZeoVit.com !

Can you please post some more information about your system:

    https://forum.zeovit.com/forum/gener...bout-your-tank

A full tank and a sump picture would be helpful additional.

As SPS corals die that quick I would expect there is something more than just a issue with the dosage or the water parameters.

Thank you for the additional information, but I can not see anything problematic. Do you have SPS corals which are dong well and growing already ? Are just new added SPS corals affected, if yes does they loose tissue starting from the tips or at the base ?

              Good Morning Alexander

Those who have been here the longest have a slow growth.
The ones I put in again are that they whiten from one day to the next, as you can see in one of the photos usually from the bottom up, but at other times they whiten evenly.
I also forgot to mention that I am doing triton balling and zeostar3 3ml a day.
I must continue with the same doses of zeovit products.
              Thank you very much

              Greetings,

                Hello Antionio,

basically your dosing regimen is fine and should not be the cause of the issues.

In one picture there are some kind of a film on the sand, are those cyanos ?

Can you please also tell more about your lighting setup, the tank looks relative dark from the pictures but this is also not the problem for the issues with new SPS corals.

Do you have a change to do a ICP test of your water parameters ?

Additional please also tell us something more about your RO unit, do you use a purest water resin as the last stage of it ? Please also check the water with a accurate TDS meter.

                  Hello Alexander
yes, it is cyano, I had a major invasion before starting the zeovit system, but it is already decreasing.
The lighting consists of 4 gnc projectors plus 6 blue ray from the tropical marine center.
It looks dark because the photo was taken from the phone and far away.
I have no purest resine in the last stage of ro.

Hello Antinio, do you have a chance to do a ICP test of the tank water and a check with a TDS meter of the RO water you use ?

                      Hello Alexander

For the ICP text I will try to send it to Germany.
As for osmosis I will have to buy a new one that has tds meter.

                      Thanks

I expect there is any kind of a “bigger” impact to your system, as corals do respond negative that quick. This can be any kind of leaching toxins or heavy metals from the equipment, the RO water or from the rocks / sand. A ICP Test might be helpful but there are also several harmful substances which can not be detected with it like softeners of plastic etc.

Running a purest water filter resin as the last stage of the RO unit is something I would really recommend, in conjunction with a accurate TDS meter you can easy see when the resin needs to be replace.

Not sure if one or both will change much but I would both ruled out first.

                          Thanks

I have already ordered a resin cartridge and a TDS meter, it may solve this problem, I will also take the opportunity to make a bigger water change.
                          Thanks

                            Good Morning
I already received the resin and tds. Without the resin, the output gives 5/6 ppm and with the cartridge 0 ppm.
I hope this is the solution to the problems I have had with algae and cyanos.
                            Thanks
