  • Plans for tonight?

Personally, I hate Valentines Day - I think it is the biggest fakest commercialized holiday of the year.

But, being smart enough to keep my mouth shut, I suck it up and play the game.

Today I had a dozen roses delivered to the house - of course they came too early and Dana was still getting ready for work. Oh well, she liked them. Then tonight, I have dinner reservations at Ruth's Chris in Crystal City. Hopefully we will get a table with a window view of the city. The last thing I am doing today for Dana is getting a cleaning service to clean the house. She completely stresses about having a clean house, me on the other hand, and with all the traveling we are doing to plan the wedding, we just don't have time to clean it. So I thought this would be a good idea.

What is everyone else doing/have planned?

I'll cook dinner, but then that's nothing new. All the restuarants make up a special menu with items they can fix quick, inflate the price and limit it to 3 or 4 selections. The last time we went out on 2-14 was over 10 years ago and we had chicken with blue cords on that they had bought pre stuffed, dipped and frozen. When it landed on our table the center of it could have doubled as a ice cube for my vodka tonic. Probably cost $25 a plate but hey it included a cheap glass of cheap California sparkling vino that the guy that lives behind the dumpster would have liked (did I forget to say it was cheap?).

Barb's birthday is the 18th so I got'em back-to-back. We'll do dinner Saturday if I get home early enough from Steve Tyree's swap at the Hilton (yes, that went over like a lead balloon at home).

Last night was good! Filet, medium rare, garlic mashed potatoes, and Jim Beam on the rocks. We did get lucky and got a window seat, over looking DC - for those of you guys who were act MACNA, the restaruant is right around the corner.

Dinner and the gift went over very well - Dana was completely surprised and happy about the cleaning service.
