  • Question about E-Bay

I just received an e-mail from E-Bay, some sort of a security update. According to the note, they need to verify credit card information or my account will be suspended. I have no problem with that, however, they also want the P.I.N. number to the related card. This is a first and I am extremely hesitant to give them that. The link in the mail takes me to the E-Bay sign in page (or an excellent fake) and all looks legit. Something just aint right here. Anyone else have this happen to them. Bottom line is I will probably let them suspend the account, I don't do much on there anyway.

Usually there are fake emails that are sent to Ebay users. I once read an email that wanted me to change my password, but I ignored it and nothing happened. You can even send that email you have to Ebay Security Center and see if it's there email.

I started poking around on E-Bay, and reported the mail as possibly fraudulent as well as forwarding it to them. I am supposed to get a confirmation message from them in my account and I am looking in my messages in "my account" within ebay and don't see anything.

            Just received this from ebay,

            "Hello,

Thank you for writing to eBay regarding the email you received.

Emails such as this, commonly referred to as "spoof" or "phished"
messages, are sent in an attempt to collect sensitive personal or
            financial information from the recipients.

The email you reported was not sent by eBay. We have reported this email
            to the appropriate authorities.

In the future, be very cautious of any email that asks you to submit
information such as your credit card numbers or passwords. If you are
ever concerned about an email you receive from eBay, simply follow these
            steps:"

So beware all, tis the season.
            Marshal
