  • Free Vehicle!!! Wooooohoooooooooooo!

Ok, I will start with how I aquired the vehicle :

Some info, Im 15 yrs. old, and I already had a 1985 or so Ford Ranger red truck that ran perfectly and had no rust at all and no rust at all in the vehicle, paint was almost perfect....my dad said that when my bro (currently 13) can drive he gets the truck forever i guess, leaving me vehicle-less.

Thinking about rising gass prices and the coolness of some vehicles....

    (More story)

SO my aunt and uncle had a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Turbo(I think) car sitting behind their house by the woods just setting there...why? Because they had no use for it, they already had at least 3 vehicles not counting their sons vehicle...and their daughters vehicle...so basically it had no use. Now originally this vehicle had problems....major with the engine, it leaked oil horribly and had probs. starting and continuing to run. It was originally my aunts car. Then my aunt decided to just get a new vehicle (some really sporty awesomeness car if i remember correctly...she still has it and drives it all the time) The Eclipse was passed to the son for use in highschool, etc... It started having problems mabe during his senior year of hight school, mabe when he was a junior too even. So they took it some where and found that it realy needed a re-built engine put in, among other things....after all this stuff apparently they thought it worked perfectly fine, which it did. Then The son, Brian, got a new vehicle. They didnt trust it with Brian going to college, so he got a new vehicle. Now this vehicle ran perfectly at that time, they were going to sell it, but did they? NO! It was banished to a spot by the woods for 2 years...untill(exciting part) I rode my 4 wheeler up to it while getting a lawnmower out of the barn by their house so i could mow...I got off the 4 wheeler (2003 or 2004 model...new when bought) and peered inside...what did i see? I stick shift! Also a "expinsive" radio system, good interior, sunroof, etc... and then i stood back and realized "hey, this car looks cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) So the wheels started turning and i realized that they (my aunt and uncle) didnt really care about this car much after it sitting 2 years by the woods, so i IM'd my aunt and asked her if she wanted to sell it to me etc...next day she called and said i could have it FFFRRREEEEEEEEE(!!!!) YAY! So my dad sez, well it might not run well and it had probs...i was like....dont care i want it. My dad called my grandpa and he had worked on it a bit, he claimed there was absolutely nothing wrong with it when it was parked there...probably true. Now we opened that hood Let that battery charge for around 5 hours put in the key, and turned her good. Now it rev reved. SO there fore we tried a few things, pushing on the gas while the engine was turning over, etc...each time we tried the engine ran a little longer, 2 seconds, then quit, 5 secs, then quit. 10 secs, then quit. THEN we started it, it RAN good, reved up that gas pedal (vroom vroom!) and heck, we drove it home from my and and uncles house down the highway...with low tires, probably expired liscens plate, AND horrible leaf litter, dead bugs, vines, and dirt etc all over it..(me wonders what the heck the other drivers were thinking)

We got it home, washed it off, and found that we had trouble re-starting it the second time...once we got it started we let it run while we washed the something out of it. (bout 1 hour). Then we shut her off, drove her to the gas station to buy some Mt. Dew and Tea, (sereously), and drove her home.

We discovered: A: needs new rear shocks (definately...most important)
B: Needs new motor for right pop-up headlight
    C:Needs new battery
D: needs new feul, oil, etc.
E: needs some paint job on parts of it
F: REALLY needs the interior ceiling replaced...(cloth falling down on head)
and G: something i cant remember right now.....

overall, good deal for free.... ohh and its a stick shift...i attempted driving it on the road with my dad (i can drive when 15 as long as he's in the passengers seat) and i could have killed us all....i couldnt find the break and we stopped in the middle of a intersection.... (Darn Three Pedals!!!!!) gas, clutch, brake...BAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyhow i coulnt shift whild driving much either....lotsa practice needed super bad...

K, we got the shocks from autozone or something...like $80 for both of them. My grandpa and dad installed one of them, (it took like 3 hours for just one) and lowered the car back down from the jacks...there was def. a diff. ON the side with the new shock that "rubbing" noise was reduced by 95%. The other one will be installed sometime this upcoming week

      we also found out that...

the breakpads are gone. Yes, gone. the metal is what was stopping the vehicle, no break pad at all. therefore there are big grooves in the break disk. (All of em will have to be replaced..along with the headlight motor, windshield wipers, break disk and pads, ceiling cloth on the intereior, ohh and it will need a tune up for sure...after all that...mabe it will be good to go.)
      :xmas:

not sure if it needs a new battery or not....the current one seems to work fine. now time to find a good pictue of this car and post away... OFF TO GOOGLE IMAGES!!!
