  • DirectTV HDTV Tivo Now or wait

    OK guys:
I do NOT have a HDTV currently, but I do have DirectTV. Should I upgrade to HDTV now, get the current model HDTV Tivo box or should I wait for the MPEG 4 boxes and upgrade my TV then as well. Nothing wrong with my current set, it's just not HDTV. I have space restrictions as well. It's gotta fit inside my media cabinet, so no 50" plasma etc... 34, 36" max.

I agree its amazing, we just got a new TV and its HD ready, but we decided to wait on the tuner, right now they are like 300 bucks, no big deal.

but i heard in the next couple years theya re supposed to come out with a better tuner for less, so we waited.

i would just wait as the techonology in the next 4-5 years is going to change alot.

they say in that time frame all TV stations will be HD.

I say upgrade now. You probably don't want the first generation mpeg4 anyway.

i am so glad i switched to Comcast. I got a lot more HDTV channels and an HD DVR that doesn't cost a fortune.

I have HDTV as well and have the HDTV DVR from Time Warner cable. I really like it. I would say to upgrade now.

Well for right now I'm going to wait. I want to try and negotiate a larger space for the TV. HD just isn't as impressive on a 34" screen as a 50 ya know?

True Moonpod. I have a 51" Hitachi ultravision and it is great. My dad has the same TV but in 65" and I think my picture is better. Since the source is the same it is just too much amplification.
