  • Car trouble, always at the worst times:(

Unbelievable, I finally saved up $400 that I was going to use to completely stock my tank with frags and wham my tranny goes in my car. I guess its my fault considering what kind of stress it was under about a year ago. Honda auto trannys are not meant to be boosted I think I should have invested in a separate cooler when the engine was turboed The only good thing is that I can get a used one imported from Japan (40,xxx mi) for $200 and my buddy's dad owns a shop and he will replace it for $250. Guess the coral will have to wait

Good thing you can get the good deal on it. It could be worse for sure.

In February my truck tranny went out and the rebuild to a heavy duty and an added cooler was $2,600. I knew it was coming though as it's the weak link in the drive train on Dodge PU's. Truck only has 70,000 miles and I expected it 20,000 miles ago. The motor will go at least 300,000 miles without slowing (knock on wood) and the warranty is 100,000 on it. Just can't expect it to carry around almost 20,000 lbs without some problems though.

You know Sean, I just read your thread title again and all I can say is there is NO GOOD TIME to spend money on a car just to fix something so it works just the same as before it broke. Every time I pick up my car/truck from the shop I get this feeling after I write the check that I'm right back where I started.

I here ya, two tell you the truth I cant remember when the tranny wasnt slipping So it will actually be an improvement for me

Scott, what was your civic running. Last time I dynoed and ran mine in the quarter it was 265whp with 239ftlbs torque. Ran 13.3 in the quarter. T3/t4 kit, full 3in exhaust, fully tuned on stock internals. Not bad for a 4door auto teg. Can you say sleeper. Exhaust was high temp coated black, looked much like stock, and my intercooler was black also. It just didnt sound stock the HKS Blow of valve gave it away Had to sell off the goodies though, cars are more of a money pit then fish tanks

--Now Id be lucky if it ran in the 15's lol. I refuse to take it to the track

I was thinkin about getting rid of the teg and going with a RWD 240 w/srt20det, but I cant get myself to get rid of it I know what you mean though the teg feels so slow without it--esp. with a B18b motor in it
