Yesterday was one hell of a day.
Long story, short version.
I saw Reese standing over a dying bee about 8:30am. 2-3 mins later he walked to the grass and started to vomit. After 30 seconds or so he laid down in the grass. I picked him up and told Barb we needed to take him to the vet. I carried him into the house and he lost control of his bowel. We called his normal vet and they said hold please. After a min or so I told Barb, "Hang up, we need to take him to the Emergency clinic". We got in the car with him and we're real lucky to have an all night and weekend clinic about 2 miles from our house. By the time we got there Reese was non responsive. We passed him over the counter to the women and about 10 min later the vet comes out and says it does not look good and his membranes are pale white, Barbara is hysterical at this point. They gave him an IV with antihistamine.
I few mins later an employee walks out with a neatly wrapped bundle of blanket taped up and goes into a consultation room, Barb and I are like, oh God no. It turned out that was not him but an older dog put down.
Anyway after a few hours everything was OK but our day was pretty much shot and I had absolutely no energy the rest of the day. This is only a dog but I'll tell you it sure didn't seem like it. The vet told us Reese would not have survived another 5 minutes without treatment and we will now carry a bee sting kit for him at all times. We had him there in no more than 15 minutes I'd guess from the time I saw Reese and the bee.
