    my whole family is getting me a lap top for college, like all my aunts/uncles and grandparents and so on...

    anyway what do you guys think is the one of the best out there?

    i need a fast one and it NEEDS to be able to have wire-less internet. thats the key thing here wire-less internet.

    so what do you think? i was looking into those Alien ones, or are those bad?

    let me know!

    thanks!

    Don't buy an Alienware laptop.

    They are nice and fancy, but you can get the same laptop MUCH cheaper.

    I don't know, as a college student, I'm not such a fan of laptops, they get stolen quite often. I like having a PC and the ability to expand it.

            Hey Nick back in October I got a new Toshiba. It has built in wireless which I think most of them have now, CD burner 512megs of RAM 3.02GHZ processor and I think an 80gig HD. I buddy of mine has an older Toshiba and its still going strong. Also they have this program you can sign up for and if it is stolen next time the computer connect to the internet it tells Toshiba where the unit connected. Pretty cool feature. Kinda like Lojack for your laptop.

                do you want thin? heavy? light? powerful? long battery life? I just did this for the University I work for, we soon are going to be a Laptop University<st1 =""></st1>.

                Just let me know what you want. And remember there ARE NO LAPTOPS BUILT to game, even alienware are garbage when it comes to gaming. So don’t be upset when you get your new laptop and it wont play games for crap . I have personally tested the alienware, the new Dell XPS gen2, and a few others. None of them game, esp the new games out there. If you want to game, get a desktop, if you want portability, get a laptop.

                Also what is the price range? You def want to go with Centrino (Super fast processor, uses VERY LITTLE power to run, and most important for you, Built-in wifi )

                    Scott- hey thanks for the help, lets see i want long battery life, thats a big part there, fast processor, wire-less internet ready is also big.

                    lets see what else screen size is not that big to me, whatever size is fine by me.

                    i figured they are not that good for gaming (laptops that is) but thats ok. i mainly want it for wireless internet, typing papers, the big thing is portablity also.

                    price is well i guess whatever it cost like i have no clue how much some of these new ones go for so like 2000 or whatever i guess.

                    so give me your thoughts, basically wire-less internet is the key along with long battery life, and fast processor.

                    thanks again for the help Scott
