  • Which is Bluer?

Hey guys which is bluer, Aqualine Bushke 10000k, or the ushio 10000k. I am currently running Ushios but I was wondering if the AB's are a little bluer

Ive seen both next to each other and saw didnt think any was bluer.. but the Ushio was more white and the AB was more yellow. With this in mind, the AB will bring out more purple colors than the Ushio. It really depends on what you have under the bulb to decide what bulb you need.

That's interesting, Edward, on my 1000W'ers[HQI]the Ushio is yellow while the AB is white Bob

The AB are in fact a 13K bulb. The 10000 on the box is meant to be the number of hours that the bulb will hold the 13K value.

I use 2 x 400W AB globes, nice crisp color, but with a small hint of yellow.

            Cheers

Seeing as how yellow (6,500K) bulbs have such a high growth rate, I'd think a little yellow in your 10K would only help to stimulate more growth.

              Granted, it isn't always pretty.

Try EVC, they're cheaper and whiter then both of the aboved mentioned. They've recently got alot of attention on RC as people started testing them. They also hold their color for what seems an eternity. Their PAR is also higher then the AB and Ushio.

EVC does make a nice bulb.I've run one next to a XM.The XM gave me better colors on my blue and purple corals.Growth was about the same.I also didn't run atinics with the EVC or the XM,they both give off a nice blue white.I also ran AB's awhile back and Ushios. The Ushios are more yellow and need atinic. The AB's were a nice white blue and they also looked great without atinic.Growth and color are about the same on all these bulbs,IMO.If your looking to save a couple of bucks go with the EVC or XM,both are nice bulbs IMO....HTH

I just swap out my coralvue bulb which I believe it's the high UV that is burning my sps...

and get myself Ushios, well compare Hm 14k and coralvue 10K and this ushios 10K, I can say Ushios is really very yellow when you look from the side. But looking at the front it's white enough.

I didn't choose XM bulb cause of the fear of getting another problematic issue from last XM bulb..

So now I'm set with Ushios and see my sps go and how much they will love the new bulb..

Ocean encounters sells them. They have pretty good EVC deals.
