  • My first change!

Well guys i just changed the rocks for the first time today

i have been on ZEO for 1 month as of today and LOVE EVERY PART OF IT!!

my tank is doing great! everything is doing great! i could not be more happy with ZEO! i cant wait to see the color change on this one coral i got! its alittle brown but starting to color up!

just alittle back ground, 200 gallon net SPS tank

i am dosing 2 liters of rocks, 2 cups of carbon, 1ml of start 3 times a day, then for the next 2 weeks i am dosing 8 drops of bak and food7 everyother day and then for the 4 weeks after that 8 drops of bak and food7 2 times a week. i am pumping the reactor 2 times a day (10-15 pumps each time) and kneading the carbon once a day!

everything is shaping up! i will have to post some pics soon! still trying to get some decent ones (Madison's guide he posted is working, but still need some more pratice hopefully this weekend!)

hopefully in the next month to 2 months i will be getting a new skimmer for this tank! right now i am running a euro-reef cs8-2, but i am upgrading to a BK 300 external so hopefully this will really help along with ZEO!

i only have 10 corals but they are all healthy and thriving and this is in a 3 month old tank, everything is going great, knock on wood. the corals are all growing and encrusitng on the LR!

as must of you have said, "there must be something to this stuff" and i could not agree more! everything is going great! the water is clear, the algae i had is dying off everyday and is about 90% gone!

anyway thanks again to all of you that have helped! and most of all thanks Bob for helping!

oh yeah on question for you guys, i should do my next change out at 6 weeks right? or should i do 5 weeks? after seeing Todd's post in Jeff's thread about letting the rocks go to long and then all of Todd's corals turned brown, its making me thinking when i should change my rocks again?

should i go 6 weeks? or what?

    thanks!

Keep an eye on your corals and if you get signs of overdosage when it gets to about 4wks. Brown film on the glass, ect. As you have entered stage 2 make sure you keep an eye on your corals because they will begin to show signs of stress as you will soon have to tailor your dosing. Good luck Nick it seens like everything is going great so far

Hi Nick, & thnx. for the kind words. Generally, after the first zeolite exchange[4wks] one can adhere to the 6wk. schedule of changing out the stones. As Sean mentioned, observe your corals every day, both tips & bases. Zeo-excess will result in tissue-tip lightening, or thinning or recession Bob
