  • Too much flow?

Just wondering about flow through the reactor, my tank is 150 UK gallons and using the pump thats running through it at the moment i dont think is enough (its an aquamedic powerfilter but not sure of the gallonage they put out!) , i have a few 1060 pumps around which put out around 590 gallons an hour, is this far too much flow through the reactor?

what would be the results of

    a. too much flow through
    b. not enough flow through

which is worse too much or not enough??

    Cheers

    Hi Gary,
The Aqua-medic powerfilter is 1000lph i think. Your tank works out at 680 litres so it is too much flow already.

Hi Gary, the flow rate thru the filter is 100gph[400l/h] for each ltr. zeolite used. A little more or less is fine. However, too much flow can result in relative zeo excess with negative consequences to the corals. Too slow a flow of the zeo-filter results in underutilization of the zeo-components with stagnation in nutrient reduction. Bob
