purigen ok to use with zeo?

i'm not using zeo (yet) but was wondering if its ok to substitute purigen vs carbon.

tim, good question. I have heard of some people who are doing this now instead of carbon, but without ZEOvit. Purigen has not been tested with ZEOvit and that is why its not recommended as we may not know what type of negative effects may happen with your tank. Its kind of like adding ROWA with ZEOvit... you have two strong media's that compete for the same thing and will only hurt your corals. We also dont know what Purigen may leak into the system. Carbon is made for removing pollutants and toxics which has EXTREMELY small pore sizes and is also soft so its characterstics differ from Purigen.
