How can i control this algae

I have a lot of brown algae growing on my live rock, and my creatures basically don't eat them. Now there is a trend of longer and more. how to control them？

I have Astraea haematraga 4, Turbo chinensis 70, Monetaria annulus 10, ****iodoris japonica 1, Sailfin 1, Regal Blue Tang 1 in my tank.

First of all, I'm not sure if your used water Ro/DI quality is good, TDS should be 0. It is recommended to use resin material as the last channel of the filter, which is better.

Your tank is currently very young and biologically still developing, some coating of algae/brown film is normal. I'm not sure if the initial tank build cycled through the correct Zeo 14 day cycle plan, or if there was some other way to reduce nutrients at the initial tank build (can you answer this question) to reduce all doses/material quantities of nutritional products on a Zeo basis , is wrong and it needs to be changed. Base water parameters, which are also particularly important, should remain stable at NSW levels:

I use ro/di and often test for tds of 0
I open the tank according to the 14-day open tank method.
I will reduce part of the dose because my friend said that the condition of the coral will be better if part of the dose is reduced. But his tank has been running for over a year, and his dose adjustments may not be right for my tank. I will continue to use the recommended dosage.
Some of my parameters are too high because I enabled the calcium reactor too early, which I have stopped. KH and Ca are slowly decreasing.The large batch of corals I ordered has not arrived yet, I will reactivate after adding new corals.
I checked the information, this algae may be Hincksia, according to the posts in the forum, this algae will subside by itself in phase 2, is it?

I suggest you follow these steps to get started:

1. Put 1 liter of zeovit into the Zeo reactor. The water flow is approximately 400 liters per hour. Make sure the zeolite is not exposed to air when the pump is off. Clean materials daily. Leave the zeolite in the filter for 4 weeks until your first replacement. This is the first replacement interval, others may extend to 6-8 weeks.

2. Put 0.4 liters of activated carbon in the filter bag, then place it in a sink under passive water flow, and replace it every 30 days. Wipe down the carbon daily to keep the surface clean. Most users will achieve perfect results with korallenzucht carbon.

3. 4 drops of ZeoBac per week, 2-3 times a week, 4 drops each time. Take ZeoStart 0.4ml 2 times a day (morning and evening). Place them in front of the Zeo Reactor pump when the Zeo Reactor pump is on.

4. Zeo SpongePower - 4 drops every other day

5. BioMate You can also take @ 8 drops every other day for 2 -3 weeks, otherwise 2 times a week. (recommended if you have/also)

You can color the coral later with other products and ZeoFood if desired. Adjust your skimmer to skim off the wet, keep it clean to get as much out as possible. Change the water 5-10% weekly with good quality salt.

Later, full ZeoVit products are recommended over other brands, and now let's stop using all nutritional/coloring products too. (if you are adding)

The basic parameters of water look good, try to get close to NSW in the following ranges:

KH 6.5 – 7.5
Ca 400 – 420mg
Mg 1250 – 1300mg
K+ ~ 380mg

For malnourished environments, K+ (potassium) appears to be an important element. I suggest you get a test suite for that element too, and post your results

Zeo reduces the amount of zeolite material used in nutritional products, which is a bit much, but shouldn't be a problem. Regarding activated carbon, if using a reactor, it is 0.2 liter quantity, which is changed every 3 weeks. You're using 0.25 liters, that shouldn't be a problem either. Most users will achieve perfect results with the korallenzucht carbon. Just make sure to adjust the quantity slowly to correct the next time you change it.

Get some functional animals like: snails, sea urchins, that would be nice

Confirm reactor flow is correct - use a small container to collect reactor outlet for 30 seconds, volume x120, and post actual measured level

Regarding the algae problem you mentioned, most of them can be improved in a nutrient-poor environment. You can remove it by hand, a toothbrush might also be a good helper

I would guess the algae you have are coming from the live rock so not really unusual but it does not have a “direct” link to the young age of your system. However I would try to get rid of the as soon as possible before they spread additional. Removing them manual with a brush regular as Jacky has mention is something I would recommend you also. Additional I would add one of the following sea urchins to see if they do eat the stuff:

The amount of live rock in my fish tank feels a little too much. I'll adjust the live rock count and recalculate the doses as you said. I have BioMate and I will take the recommended dose to try it out.
I confused Alk and K+, K+ is 400 in my aquarium, and I am constantly monitoring.
I haven't replaced my Zeolite yet, I didn't notice the first time it needed to be replaced at 4 weeks. I'll replace them right away and adjust the dosage.
My reactor flow is now at 600, I will rescale them to 400.
I already have a lot of functional animals in my tank, maybe they can't be cleared as fast as the new ones.I also manually removed a lot of algae, but it seems to be more and more.
I think I'll still have to do it by adjusting doses and clearing synthetics manually.

I live in China, and the sea urchins commonly available here are Mespilia globulus and Diadema setosum (like the picture below). I already have a blue one, but it seems to be too few, I will buy a few more to supplement.

I mean the amount of zeolite material and activated carbon, not Live rock. (You're using slightly more, but that's not a problem, just needs to be fixed later).

If 4 weeks have passed since the old zeolite remains, let's replace 90% of the material for the first time (keep the old 10%), after each material replacement, ZeoBac x10 days (4 drops, x10 days), after that and check the reactor outlet flow .

Over time, if all is well, the next exchange interval can be 6-7 weeks away. The base water parameter is stable and is also quite important in NSW, let us also test it frequently to maintain the level.

After you manually clean the algae, I also recommend you to use Zeo CoralSnow, the dose is 4ml each time, if you wish, you can add this option to the dosing plan twice a week. Replace the filter cotton as much as possible, and adjust the skimmer to wet for a period of time.

sounds like you tank is new and young and would expect to some form of algae leaching

helpful trick when removing by hand is cup RODI water. Pick Algae off drop in a cup and rinse ur finger in RODI water. Help prevent pores release from fingers

generally light and or nutrients feed algae. Young tank / rock will be releasing nutrients

I have reduced the dosage of zeolite and activated carbon, In the future, it will be adjusted according to the number of live rocks.

I have replaced 90% of the zeolite and adjusted the total to 1L. I would add zeobac daily as you recommend. and regularly monitor water quality parameters.

Sounds good, good luck. Also please note one more thing, if you encounter the replacement cycle of both at the same time, let's extend the carbon replacement by a week to avoid replacing both at the same time. Regarding your system, the reactor outlet flow should be 400 liters/hour.

Urchins are very effective to get rid of algae so for a 400 liter system two of them should be enough. Not sure which kind of urchin you already have, the Diadema would be a good addition also. There is a chance that they do not eat this kind of algae but it might be worth a try.
