  • Waterbox 32.5

hey folks, i recently graduated from Duke University and will be ordained a priest in the Anglican Church. I’ll be starting a PhD program in Political Theology in the fall and wanted to celebrate by finally hopping back into the reef hobby. I ordered a Waterbox 32.5 and plan to build the tank slowly over the summer. This will be my first time running Zeovit and I want to take my time.

I plan to start the tank on May 24.

    1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.) - 33 US Gallons (according to Waterbox)
    2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.) - 33 US Gallons (according to Waterbox)

    8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels - N/A
    9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels - N/A
    10. What filtration method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.) - filter sock
    11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.) - AI Plus Prime 16HD, 55 watts max, A160WE Tuna Blue LED Light
    12. What corals do you keep - intended SPS dominant mixed reef
    13. Tissue color (light or dark) - N/A
    14. How long has the tank been running _ Not set up yet
    15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system - Coral color and health, emulating natural setting
    16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.) - intend Ca, Alkalinity, magnesium
    17. Live rock (how much, how old, etc.) - Carib Sea LifeRock Reef Tree 30-35 lbs according to website)
    18. Any present problems - N/A
    19. Problem description (tissue loss tips, tissue loss base, diatom bloom, algae, etc.) - N/A
    20. What test kit do you use (how old, recently switched, etc.) - RedSea Marine Care Test Kit
    21. Present dosing, amounts and intervals (ZEOvit, ZEObak, ZEOfood, ZEOstart, ZEOspur2, etc.) - N/A

Forgot to add I will be using the Lifegard Turbo Reactor Nano Side Flow for zeolite.

      https://forum.zeovit.com/forum/gener...nformation-faq

      # 7 in the link has a detailed Zeo 14-day cycle plan for your reference

It is recommended to use live rock, which can speed up the process

      Good luck with your studies

Thanks! I'll be posting up photos of the equipment as I gather it and then progression shots periodically. Jacky, I read through the first post but had not made my way down to the seventh on the sticky. That is extremely helpful info. Thanks for the post.

Couple of equipment shots. I’m slowly accumulating the equipment to run the tank. Still waiting on the aquarium itself, lifegard reactor, a white Adaptive Reef controller cabinet which will be added into our built in desk and bookcase, and various Zeovit supplements. The only piece of equipment I’m holding off on getting for a bit is an automatic water tester. Also considering a Tunze Comline Wavebox 6208 in the near future. I’m hoping to automate this as much as possible as there will be stints where I am traveling for a week to three in order to meet with my PhD supervisor and I want the tank to be as stress free as possible for my spouse.

I am also working with Top Lids for a top that will cut down significantly on evaporation.

first time posting pictures on here so let me know if there is a better way to imbed them. I’m using Google Photos. Again, I appreciate your help!

The rationale behind my equipment purchases has two parts. I really want to automate this tank as much as possible just because of my busy schedule but I am also hoping to upgrade to a much larger reef in the next 2-3 years and hope to transition much of this equipment over to that setup. Hopefully, it will work out that way but I'm sure, given the pace of innovation, there will be a whole slew of new gadgets that will be available by then. 😆 I'm sure what will actually happen is I keep the nano and just start a completely new system.

                      Quick Update:

Drove the family to Tampa, FL to visit with the in-laws and the first full day of vacation I ended up in the hospital with acute diverticulitis, and an abscess and perforation in my intestine. I ended up spending five days in the hospital and left with a PICC Line and six weeks of IV antibiotics. We drove the ten hours home (which meant I missed a full two days of IV antibiotics) and unfortunately I ended back up in the hospital when we got home. Long story short I have an appointment with a gastrointestinal doctor on Wednesday and haven’t gotten a tremendous amount done with the tank.

I did, however, manage to get the control panel/cabinet set up! I added a CoralVue Control X4 and a dedicated iPod Touch for all of the various apps. Everything is officially in. I just need to get an adaptor for the RO/DI and an adaptor for my impact drill so I can drill a hole in the desk. Looking forward to feeling better and getting water in the tank.

Added approximately 250ml of zeolites to the reactor. Still need to gauge flow rate.

I also wish you a speedy recovery, health is really the greatest wealth. Just some suggestions, it might be good 1. Zeolite reactor if possible, material needs to be turned/rotated, optimal/ideal. 2. Add another set of lights if you can (with white and blue) 3. Use some dry sand (shallow sand bed) if that's your choice (better in my opinion)
