  • The Time has Come...

... To make the first change on my ZEO rocks!! I am wondering, do I change all of it and do the same routine as the first time? Do I leave some in to "seed " the new stuff? I am sure it says somewhere, but there are so many people who have already done this and it will be much quicker for me to ask!

Hi Iffer, yes, reseed with 10-15% of your "old" zeolites. With the first exchange Bak, Food7 are dosed every other day for 2wks, then 2x's/wk. Use the same quantities of these as the first go-around. How are your corals doing? Thnx. Bob

So far, so good. I have pics of my corals before and some now just to compare. I think that the colors are starting to get better. My P04's are down to .05 so that is better, I would like better than that though.I have a gravity feed on the reactor though, so you warned me this could take some time. I will be patient.

I assume that I should keep using the ZEOstart2 2x a day until I reach no traceable phosphates? Can I keep dosing AAHC and C-V during the first 2 weeks?

Thanks again Bob for being so prompt with your responses

With all changes. remember to go back to daily dosing for the first 2 weeks, then the next 4 weeks 2 times per week .. I still suggest dosing start2 2 times per day if you can, break up the amount in half .. Sounds like you are doing a great job.

ps. I dose CV all the time, same with AAHC. I do both daily during the entire time.

Ok, So at the risk of sounding redundant, this would be my routine right?

            ZEOstart 1ml 2x a day
            Bac and Food7 10 drops 1x a day for first 2 weeks and 2-3x a week thereafter
            C-v 20 drops a day
            AAHC 6 drops a day

Does this sound right? I am going away for 10 days the middle of march. I don't plan to let the person staying at our home play with the reactor, so should I let them dose the C-V and AAHC or stop all things until I get back.

What should the routine be when I get back with my dosing then. My reactor is a gravity feed, so it will be running but not pumped and not "fed" while I am gone.

            Thanks Scott!!!

Hi Scott, it's fine as long as you do not accumulate a daily thick brown biofilm on the panes or slimey strands/air-bubbles on your rocks. If this happens decrease Bak, Food & Start2 & AAHC by 50%. You will be fine while gone w/o any dosing & when you return, just begin dosing where you left off on your schedule. Bob

                Hi Bob!

Since I will be gone for almost 2 weeks, does this mean that I should go 2 weeks longer on the ZEOlith rocks, or should I just keep the same schedual and change them at 6 weeks anyway?

Hi Iffer/Scott, the time frame continues on the zeolites whether you're dosing or not. Bob
