  • Is it phase 3 already?

Well i had a couple bumps on the way and had to reduce the amount of zeo, and stop for a spell for fish reasons, But i am back full force, and ready for phase 3. All corals but a couple stubborn ones are doing nice. Theres a couple of faded corals, but nothing major. Ok down to buisiness.
I run 1.5 litres of Zeoliths, 4 drops of back and food 2 times a week, and recently upeed my dose of start 2 back to 1 ml 2 times a day. So far so good, no algae outbreaks so i think i can resume my bak and food to the 6 drops instead of the 4 unless called differently in phase 3.
I drop 12 drops of CV, and will be dosing aahc soon as i get it.
Peramiters have been rock steady at Ca 450, Mg 1400, Ph 8.1-8.3, Trates at undetectable, and so is po4. I have been doing massave waterchanges the last few weeks for that fish problem i have talked about, But i am running the main tank fishless till its resolved. Maybe indefinately. For ammonia source i feed the corals my plethora of stored coral foods. LOL cyclopeeze, rotifiers, golden pearls, ect ect. Very little maybe 1 to 2 times a week.
    Thanks for the help.

One more thing i am thinking on the zeospur2 as well. Probably going to get it.
So i'll be ordering mre zeolites,spur2, and aahc. Is there anything else that wil boost color that i am missing? Going to order this week from fragfarmer.

Hi Alex, the 3rd round of new zeolites does not = Phase 3. For the ZEOvit Phases decription, plz. refer to the sticky detailing the stages of ZEOvit at the top of "General Forum"-English. If one needs to increase the zeo-components to control the nutrient levels than Phase 2 still exists & generally for most new zeo-users will this Phase continues for the first several months on ZEOvit until the sequestered nutrients are depleted. Your zeo-dosages can be varied to suit your tank situation, coral appearance & nutrient levels. I suggest using Spur2 only after all the other coloring zeo-supplements have been used. I can't remember if you have Fe[iron], PIF, K-Balance or Spur-Macro-elements but dose these at the guideline recommendations for a time before using Spur2. HTH, Bob

Thankyou sir. No i dont add those things you mentioned just the CV and aahc when i get it.
I am leary of adding iodine and iron from the recent algae issues. It may be awhile before i am comfy adding elements algae love.
I think the rock is still leaching. I want a good year in before i try them.
Or atleast till i have made sure the rock is all clear of po4 and waste leaching.
        I'll hold off the spur2.
The questioned corals have not colored back up, I stopped the carbon for over a week, and recently replaced the carbon today. I replaced with 1/2 the amount i usually do. (2 cups of black diamond soaked in ro/di so i used 1 cup)
        Thanks again bob!
I'll re read the sticky, Its about time i havent since i started.

Hi Alex, once you truly reduce the total system inherent nutrients then zoox. density will decrease & corals will begin to regain their color. This may take months but it does occur. You will be able to speed this process along with no fish[or nutrient import] in your reef. BTW, try to decrease your Ca level into the 410-430 range, Mg to 1250-1300. These ranges for me seem to be more optimim with the KH<8 for our corals. Bob

Thanks again bob will do. I think this system will remain fishless till my tank is on the right track.(Maybe till the new year) So far it is, But the old undersized skimmer and overstock tank with fish that have to be fed too much took its toll on the liverock, and its saturated with po4. And no matter how many waterchanges i did it didnt go away.
I upgraded to the mr3 and started my big waterchange period 8 mos ago.
I pull out tons of skimmate when i first started the new skimmer 8 mos ago, and still do with no fish now. LOL So i think i have a bit to go before I can have a tank as nice as yours and the others here.
I'll lower my ca and mg in a couple weeks when i change ca/rx media's.
I have dolomite in there to raise mg, and bring my alk up.
I ran my tank with an alk at 12 dkh. Mg helped me get there as well.
It works like a charm for bryopsis. In 2 weeks of elevating my alk bryopsis was gone.
I think i had the algae issues and brown growth problem from all that was built up in the tank. Even though the high alk kept the bryopsis non existant it just helped store the po4 in the rock, and when i brought it down for zeo i think thats why the problems came back. IMO Its going away, and almost gone again. :mexican:
Thanks bob! As you can see i am much better off with zeo, and hope one day i can show off some crazy colors like the rest here.
            Thanks again!!!
