  • distilled water for salt mix?

Anyone experience with distilled water for salt mix before? Someone must have done this before.
RO/DI water will drip forever for my initial setup. I am thinking of buying the bottled distilled water.
Will it be low on PO4 and Si?

    Thanks!

Im using the bottled distilled water for water changes since the beginning of my tank. No problems with Si or PO4, in addition its TDS=0.

I would suggest getting a bottle first and test it thoroughly. Cheers

Why not spend that money on upgrading the RO/DI (anion/cation etc)? That way you would have better water, not just as a "one off".

        Hi Josh,
Yes, i will be using the RO/DI after the initial setup. I just don't want to wait for 5 days for the RO/DI unit to make up 260G water.
I will get a bottle and test it. Thanks!

i used only bottled distilled for first 1.5 years. investing in a RODI unit was probably 1 of my best purchases.
distilled works fine, just a PITA running from store to store wiping out all their distilled gallon jugs.

              new here,
but i also used botlled water for a whole year a while back, and it worked great, RO/DI is a good investment if you can layout the cash all at once.
though the dstld water was perfect.
BOB i sent you an email by the way.

Be careful, some bottled distilled water contains copper in amounts that are too high for reeftanks due to the equipment used to distill the water.
