  • Introduction

    Hi,

I've been reading about zeovit for a few weeks now and I wanted to introduce myself. I'm seriously considering switching to the zeovit method for my tank. Here's my setup right now:

    500 gallon w/ 200 gallon sump
    400lbs LR
Reef w/ about 10 tangs and 15 other misc small first (damsel, firefish, blenny, gobies)
    4x250MH, 1x400MH (on 7 hrs a day)
G4 skimmer, but will be upgrading to a T5000 soon (being fixed)
    No fuge right now.
    CA reactor

    Water params:
    nitrite: ~0
nitrate: 40-80ppm (I know. I know. I have some green algae on the glass every two days)
    ammonia: 0
    Ca: ~400
    Alk: ~7-9
    pH: 8.1-8.3
    Temp: 77-79

I'm still looking for the "perfect" reactor for my setup. =)
    Auto cleaning reactor anyone?

Anyways, I just wanted to say "hi" and thanks for the loads of information. My brain is being well fed. =)

Hi Danny, ZEOvit method is a balanced approach in lowering nutrients, a prerequisite for coral coloration[SPS] while handle-pumping the zeo-reactor releases the nourishing bacterial-detritus complex[mulm] food-source for our corals & exportation by our skimmers. The zeo-products work synergistically, specifically made one for the other. This method really allows maintaining large volume reefs much easier than any other method.

I've used the large GroTech zeo-reactor for nearly 2yrs. which holds 4 ltrs zeolites yet allows enough room for cleaning the zeolites surfaces easy. I've never had the problem of the stones sticking against the sides as some other users If you decide to start this method, plz. post same in this thread, & we'll give you the zeo-dosing schedule for your system Bob

thanks you all! And forgive me if I ask some "newbie" types questions. I will attempt to do research on my own first in order to avoid looking like an idiot. =) Your welcomes are much appreciate! =)

With a total of about 700-900 gallons, depending on if I decide to use a fuge, I'll probably need a 3 chamber reactor w/ 2.5-3 litre each. What do you think?

Hi Danny, for your system, you will start with 7 ltrs. of the zeolites & then move up to 8ltrs. Two lg. zeo-reactors holding up to 4 ltrs each will work, as would your plan. Bob

Bob, what is a good reactor to get that won't get stuck when I'm pumping the stones?
I figure two or three chamber reactors are better because it might be hard to pump 7 or 8 ltrs of zeolith.

And then of course, which dealer have you had good luck with? (This might be controversial, so PM me your thoughts. THANKS!)

Hi Danny, you're correct, it will be easier to handle pump 3 ltrs. zeolites rather than 4. Zeo-reactors, of course, can be DIY, but I've never been accused of being a craftsman. CaptiveOceans[[email protected]] the ZEOvit importer, sells the GroTech & a new design "tube-within-a-tube" zeo-reactor that is professionally crafted by a major commercial acrylic fabricator. Madison[OUinLA] has made the "inner-tube" reactor for a time & many users here have one of his reactors. I suggest contacting either one of them for your particular needs.Bob
