  • Zeovit on Mega Tank???

I'm currently setting up a 1000 gallon SPS only system and wondered which Zeo Reactor I should use. Total volume is 1300 gallons. I calculate that I'll have to have 13 bags per 6 weeks. Is this correct? What do others do that have this large of a system using the zeovit method?

    Thanks,
    Chad D. Bryant

With a tank that large you will require a custom reactor. I think Madison (screen name OUinLA) makes a nice reactor for reasonable prices. Just PM him.

Hi Chad, glad to see ya' With a very large system, the quantity of zeolites used is disproportionly less than the guideline recommendations. For instance, a zeo-user-importer with 2400g system, has been using 16 ltrs. for several months with the main benefit of color maintenance of his operational livestock. As you can understand, this is dollars saved. For your system, I'd recommend 8 ltrs. zeolites, in two reactors, each holding 4 ltrs. each. Chad if you're interested in beginning ZEOvit method, please answer the questionnaire sticky near the top of this forum, "tell us about your tank"

BTW, all your corals are doing well--that true pink millepora with dark blue tips is truly beautiful & has brightened even more with fuzzy p-e Bob

        Would be pretty expensive.

In a 1300 gallon tank the livestock to water ratio is typically exponentially less then let's say a 130 gallon tank, so I concur with the comments above that much lower than recommended dosages per gallon will suffice.

I'd do the same as Bob recommends, get two 4 liter reactors and use 8 liters total. Don't get the Grotech's though, pumping one of those things is too much work already

Yeah thank God everything else about a 1300 gallon SPS tank is dirt cheap
