  • need updated dosage

well my tanks all coming together nicely andjust wanted a update on dosage. The tank is now 4 1/2 months old and here are my parameters
alk 10.6 (too high talk about later)
    mag 1350
    cal 425
    no3 0
    po4 0.2
    sal 1.025
    ph 8.3
Ok now im on my second bag of zeo and dosing as described
    bak/food daily for 2 wks then3 drops each 2xs/wk
    start 0.2 mil 2x's/day
    amino acid 4 drops daily
    cup carbon change every month
    zeolite change every 6 weeks
So i know alk is to high i have my reactor effluent set at 7.05 which is not low to be driving up alk ,and im using io and oceanic mix at 7 alk to try to drive it down.I have about 30 frags and small colonies all doing fine i would appreciate any comments and also a revised dosing schedule if needed for zeo thank you ,mike luciano

Hi Mike, turn off the CR & allow the alk to fall slowly into range ~7.5[6-8]. Use more Oceanic for a time to help with lowering alk while maintaining Ca/Mg.

On the first zeolite exchange, Bak & Food are only dosed every other day for the 1st 2 wks. with new zeolites, then dose each 2x's/wk. Bob

Hi Mike, if your coral colors are a little weak, then increase Start2 to 0.2ml 3x's/day with 3 zeolite-cleanings/day. Also knead the carbon bag daily, Bob

Mike, the dosage will vary dependent on nutrient reduction, appearance of your corals, etc. This regimen looks good for a time if your corals appear bright & colorful. Just post-up if you have any concerns. Bob

Depends on coral color, Mike. I have been at Hanna 0.00 for sometime now, but at first I decreased my zeo-dosages greatly. Hanna didn't change, but my coral color lighten, becoming a little dull. I then upped my zeo-quantites & added K-Balance with strengthening in the colors. Short answer, depends on the appearance of your corals Bob
