    Steve - any time

After installing a ceiling fan for the first time, I am used to those sharp bites from bare wires

Sounds like some stray voltage from a powerhead or similar device. You can get rid of this by grounding the aquarium with a titanium grounding probe, and using better quality powerheads.

Of course you already have a GFCI installed so no need for me to recommend this.... right?

yeah I had this problem with a pump - any time I put my hand in the water, I would get a mild shock. Had to shut devices down one at a time and then stick my hand back in the water till I no longer got shocked.

Usual suspects are powerheads and heaters, try unplugging one at a time and checking with a volt/ohm meter. Definately fix the problem, electricity and saltwater can be a deadly combo. Good luck.

i think this is due to some of your equipment lecking elect. Cause standing on a wet salted carpet make your earth and able to be shocked.

So better try to use a test pen/volt meter to confirm and try closing all elect device in your tank and then with the help of test pet/volt meter to confirm which elect device is lecking elect.

Last nite one of my pump also leck out elect but as I always earth all my device, a trip in my elect box tell me something wrong and I quickly check it out which device is at fault.

So last night I had a problem with my tank and a good amount of water spilled out onto the carpet leaving it pretty wet. I soaked up as much as I could be it is still damp.

Today I noticed that if I am standing barefoot on the damp carpet and touch my tank water I get a slight electrical shock. If I move to dry carpet and touch my tank nothing happens. Do I have a serious problem here or is this normal?
Working...
