  • A good glass tank builder.

I am thinking of upgrading to a custom glass tank around 370 gallons. So far I have received a quote from aquarium obsessesd in Canada. Are they a good company? And who else would you recommend? Another thing is I was planning on diamante glass on 3 sides but was reading on RC that its scratched and or pitted easily. Is this true? And honestly can you really tell the difference between low iron and not when the tank is filled?
    Thanks.

    Paul,

The starfire or diamante is DEFINETELy worth it IMO.

I think that the thread on the "pitting" is a isolated situation. My last tank was starfire and showed no more tendency to scratch than any other tank ive had in the past.

Here is an old tank I used to have. Green glass on the bottom, low-iron on the sides/front. You be the judge. ;-)

No discoloration between 2 panes of glass on an angle

Aquarium Obsessed it is.I talked to Will tonight and he was very helpful. The tank will be approximately 72x36 and either 24 or 28 tall the latter costs quite a bit more.Starphire on 3 sides external overflow etc. Well if I get the go ahead from the wife that is. I have my fingers crossed.

If its 24 high it will be 1/2" starphire. Any taller and it will be 3/4" diamante

I had 2 low iron glass made by Inter American before they got the bad rep. I probably wouldn't advise going with them in the future based on what other people have said, but my 2 tanks were great and not really delayed too badly.

FWIW, I talked with PPG a few weeks ago and they told me that later this year they are releasing Starphire in thicker panels. Currently it's only 1/2" - I think they'll have 5/8" and 3/4" this year.

Nice tanks you guys are building!

compared to what other rices I was seeing combined with how easy he was to deal with I thought prices were good.

Miracles Aquariums looks like they have their stuff together too!

Ive heard too many horror stories with glasscages. I even tried myself and when I called, I had the owner pick up and cuss me out within 5 minutes!!!! All i wanted was a quote.
