so what is the total net gallons of the system? The rocks with displace some of the water and also I am sure the sump is not 100% full... Can you give me an estimate.. I think dosing my need to be tailored a bit after we get a better net of total system water.. I knwo for sure oyu are using to much carbon.. 1 cup per 100 gallons... This is just a start maybe go to the top and fill out the sticky about your tank.

Just curious what the effect is of too much carbon? I know it is not necessary to run that much but, what harm could it do. Not doubting, just honestly would like to know.

Hi Dennis, that might also depend to the activated carbon brand which is used. There are carbons moving elements to quick which can be observed in weaker colouration and very light tissue. This can happen within 2 days or so if a carbon is used that is to aggressive. If used such a carbon over a longer period corals also can start to STN.
