  • Clams and Zeo?

    Hey guys,

thinking of picking up a clam or 2 next weekend.

wondering how they do in ZEO tanks? i know they like alittle more nutrients that SPS so i am wondering if its a bad idea all together. Not to mention i hope they survive with the interruptus angel :axe:

but if they get past the angel, will they be happy in my tank?

also i am afraid if the interruptus angel does decide to try one and takes a bite, will the clam close and trap and kill the interruptus?

    thanks guys

    Nick

          Thanks Jeff.

          What size are they?

did you just put them down on the faux sand bed? or give them some type of support? like lean then up against a rock or something?

          thanks

Yeah that is my main concern Sean, the interruptus angel......

we will see i just hope it doesn get caught in the mantle like i have seen other fish because that would be one expensive death!

maybe i will try a 2-3" one and go from there.

what size do they need to be so they DO NOT need to be feed?

              thanks

I have three in my tank and they are doing very well. I even went through a period of very low nutrients and they held up just fine.

so how big do they need to be some you do not have to feed them? i think its 2" but not sure on that.

                  thanks

Nick I have 2 in my system over a year now on zeo and they are doing fine 1 maxima the other a dresa, maxima sits up high the dresa on the bottom,I would like to add another if I had room, that will happen when I change over to a larger tank I really love the color and look of clams. I have a Empera Angel and he doesn't bother either one I guess keep himwell fed. The 2" clams would need to be fed. 3" would be better Brian

Hi Nick, it's the fish-police Either should work, although the Wannabees at times are finicky/shy to acclimate in a establish reef-fish population. Bob
