  • Tank cycling question.

I haven't cycled a tank in 7 years so I want to make sure this is normal.

I am about 2 weeks into the cycling process and I am noticing an increasing amount of brown algae and a good amount of red spotted algae. This is normal right? Won't this go away in a short time as the cycling process continues?

Brad, is it brown algae or could it be diatoms? Did you use fresh live rock? Other than that, I would say it's part of the process....

Hi Brad, if it's light tan & somewhat sandy it's diatomaceous & will cycle out if your product water is low in Si's, Bob
