  • Using ozone in Zeovit

guys, would like your opinons if its ok to use Ozone running a zeovit tank?

I'm thinking that in theory, most of the bateria are in the Zeoreactor, while ozone will be pump in through a skimmer with carbon near the output of the skimmer......so wouldn't this kind of arrangement be benifical to the tank as ozone seems to increase skimmer effciency, thus improving on the removable of nutriant?

ozone is not used together with zeovit, it is suppose to be counter productive,

It's not recommended, although I have heard of people using it together with Zeovit with no problems.

Gary posted an interesting article a while ago of a study that concluded that ozone used in small amounts has very little effect on the amount of bacteria in the water column.

The real problem with ozone and UV and the zeovit system is their attribute to kill the microorganisms which are added by ZeoBac. They are needed to reduce nutrients. As we all know ZeoBac is a liquid product and since the encapsulate microorganisms have a chance to be hosted on a surface, they are floating around in the water column which can last some time.

If one runs UV or ozone with the system, they will be killed before they are hosted on a surface. The recommendation of not using UV or ozone has nothing to do with any toxins they are build up with UV and / or ozone in conjunction with any of the products, simply the activity of the system is lowered.

Also the effort to amino acids or coral vitalizer will be a problem.

That's a good point, these will be broken down much quicker.

Another good reason not to use it.... you don't need it so why bother?
