  • BioPhos and Zeo?!?

I noticed that KZ sells a phosphate removal product but thought that phosphate removal media was counterproductive in a Zeo system. Does KZ's product work in conjunction with the ZEO system or is it for everyone else?

    Thanks,

    Jamie

Zeo users like myself use it for our calcium reactors. We put it in a container where the calcium reactors liquid would come out pass through it and remove any PO4 from the media

Most PO4 removers are Iron based where as the KZ has a Al. based media for po4 removal. They have a Iron based I believe as well. I used the Biophos3 (Al based) until I got my Hanna meter and PO4 has been controlled w/o media.

          BioPhos 2 = iron
          BioPhos 3 = Al

both are from korallen zucht, as nick pointed out some use BP 3 after the calcium reactor,

Hi Jamie, P04-removers per se in our waters are not used as the ZEOvit method more than aptly removes same, w/o leaching Al3 into our system. Al3-based P04 removers, such as Phosgard/BP3 can be used above the surface waters in a container to drip our CR's effluent through as the effluent's pH is such that P04 is removed w/o the release of Al3.
