I just got my Hanna PO4 test kit and I dont understand the directions lol. When it was add sample to zero out. Do I use RO/DI water or tank water ??? Also when adding the water to test do you add the reagent and then water up to the 10ml line ???

Nick, use tank water to zero it.. Then use the same water and fill it with the reagent.. I also do one direct read then I do timed read. Make sure you REALLY clean the cuvets well and get all finger prints off before testing.. For the first few times you use it I would always test 2-3 times for accuracy.

ok kool how do you clean them what do you use ?

I just use hot water from my tap then clean them with RO/Di and store them in the same...

scott, do you mean fill the cuvet with RO/DI, cap and store, or add the cuvets to a container that is filled with RO/DI to store?

Well the 2nd test came out .23 OMG I havent done a WC in a month or changed the zeo in 2 weeks and yet my salifert PO4 test kit was saying 0 im doin 1 more test now to see what I get now plus in tyhe process of changing the the zeo rocks and doing a 20g WC also

storing in RO/DI water prevents dust/hair from accumulating on the sides but it doesn't diminish the care you must take when handling the cuvettes. I suggest buying a photo chamois, or lens cleaning tissue for the wiping of fingerprints and such.

well the 3rd test said .26 I never knew my PO4 was ever this high I have 2 fish in a 180 and a HUGE skimmer on my system

Nick, are you doing a direct reading and then a timed reading? ALso make sure the covets are extremely clean as this is a very accurate test and can be skewed with any contamination. I just find the readings odd at .11, .23, and then .26. When I do back to back mine are like .02, .02... I never had huge discrepancies between tests...

Also maybe try the other covet since it comes with 2 if you already haven't...
