Plastics, What do they leach?

I'm trying to track down the source of problems in my water supply, RO/DI, water storage and mixing containers.
What elements leach from plastics? I'd imagine it may be different depending on the composition of the water being stored.
Just being food safe doesn't say much.

From what this article says.. leaching only occurs when the plastic is heated or cooled to a certain level. A myth that dioxins leach also, but has never been proven.
