  • Zeospur 2 Question

I dosed zeospur 2 for the first time last Friday. I saw/see no change. I have read that people have dosed it again in 7 days. Do I up the dosage or just do the same as last time? I dosed 1ml per 25 gallons. If I do see a difference how long till I dose it again ect?
    thanks
    Dan

Overdosing can cause problems, so most people do as you have done, starting low. You just increase the dose some each 2 weeks until you get to where it works.

I have heard that after the first dose you can dose again after 7 days if there was no effect, but thereafter every 2 weeks, but others may correct me on that.

No you can increase it some but then you have to wait 2 weeks no matter what reaction you get.. Also I see you dosed 1ml per 25 gallons.. Thats the max dosage and you saw no results. What is your PO4 reading? You may not be low enough to see any improvement yet. How long have you been on the zeovit system or are you at all? I might wait the full 2 weeks after the max dosage.. Play it safe instead of being sorry.

PO4 is barely noticable(salifert) and I have been using zeovit for about 8 weeks.

Hi Dan, not all corals[SPS] will be affected equally by Spur2, namely Fiji[So. Pacific] are not lightened to the same degree as Indonesian corals. Use your most lightened[changed] one as your indicator. Bob

If you are detecting Po4 with a salifert kit at all, that is probably too much, silly as it sounds. The Salifert kit is well reputed, but designed more for higher Po4 levels than we are aiming at in a properly running zeovit tank. The Salifert kit will tend to tell you the levels are lower than they truely are.
Before I went zeovit I had a hair algae problem, yet my salifert kit was telling me I had zero Po4!
If you are 8 weeks in to zeovit you should have some nice nutrient reduction already happened, but looks like you will need some more yet. You can increase the dose of spur some, but as Jeff says nutrients are still high (by zeovit standards), best plan to spend a few more weeks getting them down some more & then try spur again.
For my tank, I use less then 1/2 the recommended amount of spur and get a great result, that's because it's a very low nutrient tank.

I'm with wasp on this one, if PO4 is barely noticable on a Salifert test kit that means it's HIGH Fiji NSW does not have barely noticable PO4 on any hobby test kit

Bob, sorry to be a know it all whino but what country is Bali in?
