  • what is in the zeovit ?

I was interested in the fact that many people say that zeovit can and will leach aluminum into a salt water tank .Is this the truth or not is zeovit a zeolite made just for saltwater tanks ?

And what about it taken out calcium or changing calcium is any of this fact

while I am no expert at zeovit - I would find it very hard to believe that zeovit would leach anything that would be considered to be harmfull into a tank. As for the 'taking out calcium' - I think that based on what I have seen here from zeo users that zeovit isn't taking the calcium out, its the massive growth of corals that is consuming the calcium that zeo users experience....

      Just my thoughts.

just started a thread somewhere else and wasn't aware of all the negative statements that I may receive .So just wanting to know the facts .So I could better state my case .<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008_ZNxdm006DIUS' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_3.gif' alt='Sneaky' border=0></a>

yeah I found your post. Just a bit of advice, trying to convice some people is like trying to tear down a house using your forehead as the jackhammer

edit - hit the submit button too soon

like you said, there is more than one type of zeolite. And if I recall correctly zeovit is made up of several types of zeolites. So it is quite possible that the zeovit zeolites don't demonstrate stripping of CA and leaching of Alum like those mentioned in your thread.

I'm not really trying to convince anyone of anything just thought if anyone was interested in what I was going being a novice to this zeovit system that they are more than welcome to watch and see it for themselves .I'm not a real science guy so if there is a battle of technical terms I'm lost thought a pictorial would be best .

search on Z.com and you will see that we talked about all this many times, as for me i am tierd of going over and over, sorry but i am afraid i have heard it, one to many times,

but in a nutshell, all those critics talk about something they dont even have used or even seen, i find it hard to critic something you dont even know anything about,

yeah I am not the best one for zeo info/techinal stuff either. But these types of threads have come and gone, both here and there (more so there). And they usually follow the same path and results in the thread being locked and users being banned.

No one can tell you what is in zeo, but those who use it will tell you it works - and from what I have seen here, I think it works too. Some people think it is 'snake oil' and because they don't know what is in it, don't believe in it. And don't get me wrong, that is completely fine and I understand where they are coming from. But typically what has happened is that these people refuse to think outside the box and accept that there is another method to keeping a successfull reef tank.

I agree thats why I thought a step by step with pictures may be a way to show someelse that they can have a reef tank set at natural sea levels . you know with pictures I can go this is what it looked like before I started and this is one week in and one month in and so on .

yeah, that's all been done before - it didn't work then and I doubt it will work now. There was even an offer to supply select individuals with the basic 4 for them to try - that offer was turned down.

Besides, they all know this site is here and I am sure they have all been here at least once.

                          Not to Complex

Neither the idea of Zeolites or Bacteria is not really that complex, or unresearched of a topic.

Almost all natural occurring zeolites have some sortof commerical application they are currently used for throughout the world. And over a hundred synthetic zeolites have been made for use. We use Clinoptilolite to pull ammonia out of wastewater post primary treatment (note this specific zeolite exchanges ammonia for K and Na, not Al, each one is different).

The same is true for bacteria. A good 3/4 of the hazardous waste remediation we do is now bio-remediation where lab grown bacteria is made to devour whatever substance we're looking to remove from either soil or groundwater.

I'm sure with alot of research, a few consultants you could put together a whole zeovit system yourself. But why bother? Just order it from CZ like everyonelse :icon_bigg

Though putting together a bunch of links / article / book recommendations on the science to go with your picture log to show people why it works would be neat. The pictures will probably speak for themselves, but everyone likes to know why. why. why.
