  • Zeovit Query

OK time for an update on my 150 Gallon System.

I am now in my 5th week of dosing Zeovit, I did as recommended 4 x Bac + 4 x Food, 2 cups of CZ Carbon, 1 Litre Zeolith in a Cannister filter shaken every day with 3 hours on 3 off with a 100GPH powerhead. Zeostart 2ml per day (1 evening 1 morning).

The 3rd week I reduced the Bac/Food doseage to twice per week.

Tank Params as of last night

    Temp 22-23c
    SG 1.025
    dKh 9
    Calcium 420
Mag 1300 (CZ Mag granules in Reactor)
Phosphate 0.03 (Not changed since starting)
    Nitrate 0

I have only really noticed improvement in coloration in the pink millepora, the Green Monti Digi has gone completely pale as has one of my staghorn corals. I am not too concerned at this time about improved coloration but I am in loss of coloration.

    Is this normal ?

The monti is very pale, it was green before (not striking but green)

I have 2 x 250w with 2 x 24watt PCs, no phosphate remover, no ozone, using Kent Salt

I have no Sandbed, 6 fish, a Bubble tip anemone lots of Zoos (all doing fine). I do weekly 15 gallon water changes with RO water.

I have also noticed my Pulsing Xenia withdrawing.

    Thanks

Andrew, I would recommend you to start with AAHC and CV now. For your 150 g system I would recommend both on a daily basis:

Coral Vitalizer: 10 drops in the morning and 10 drops in the evening
    AminoAcidHighConcentrate: 5 drops daily

Not sure if this will fix the colouration problem with your green digitata but generally both is very helpful in growth, polyp expansion, health and colouration.

Green can be improved with the addition of Iron Concentrate, but I would wait some further weeks before adding it. Maybe this is only a temporary problem while your water parameters have changed for sure.

I also would recommend to drop the KH a little bit around 7, keeping this level stabile.

Yeah I wondered about the temp as well. We are having a bit of a cold patch in the UK. My sump is in the garage but does have a couple of heaters. I generally run the tank around the 24c mark.

22 is about 72f, 23 about 74f maybe this is a little cold.

I will raise it to 25 and see what happens.

I will also look at the other additives mentioned.

        Thanks

I keep my tank at 25c myself. Note that in Thailand/Malyasia/Indonesia water temperatures are typically around 27c / 28c.
