  • Third week of zeo have some questions

I am into the third week of my zeo regiment and just took a test of my water parameters. temp 80, salinity 1.025, ph 8.1, cal 400, alk 8,phospate 0.10. The question I have is the phoshate has gone up from 0.09? Not sure what to make of this or is it still to early to tell anything? I have also noticed some of my corals have lightened from a brown shade to a lighter tan color? I am dosing 4 drop of bak two times a week, 4 drops of food two times a week, start every day at .6ml. 1 liter zeovit.

Hi Mark, this is a very common phenomenon in Phase 1 & early Phase 2, as "sequestered" nutrients leach back into our waters seeking nutrient equilibrium. There's no concern with this gradient change & it's best to proceed as you're doing. Bob

      Thanks Bob,
I also have noticed that the live rock has small bubbles on it. I see them more when the lights are on and toward the end of the day. Is there any thing that would cause this? I suspect that it is some type of algae.

Hi Mark, in your situation, change the zeolites at 4 wks. then the exchange of stones will move to 6wks. cycles. For now, decrease Food7 to 2 drops 2x's/wk & decrease Start2 to .15ml 2x's/day. Use this new Food/Start2 doses for the next zeolite period. Instead of dosing Bak[4 drops] & Food7[2 drops]daily for the 1st two wks., dose them every other day for the 1st two wks. then dose them 2x's/wk. Bob
