  • Starting out

Hi guys, I am planning to start out on Zeovit and I've read the sticky threads and other resources.
So basically, I'll need Zeovit, Zeobac, Zeofood and Zeostart to start my first phase right?
I currently have a 120g tank sotcked with SPS.
My skimmer is a beckett and I run carbon over a FR
I also dose AA, CV, iodine and strontium daily
So other than the basic setup, is there anything else I need to take note of?

Welcome to ZEOvit.com & congratulations on beginning the ZEOvit method. As you're aware, there are many experienced zeo-users in the Sp area who can help if you have any problems Of course, this forum is helpful & friendly as well. With the ZEOvit method, it is imperative to maintain the parms stable & within these ranges: Ca>400/Mg>1250/KH 6-8/salinity 1.023-25. There is not need to dose Sr. as the 5% weekly WC will supply ample Sr to your reef. If you wish dosing recommendations specific for your system, plz. fill out the questionnaire sticky towards the top of this forum "tell us about your tank" Keep us updated on your progressBob

Thanks for the welcome mods :icon_bigg

Here's my answer to the questionaire

        1. Gross water volume of your complete system (incl. sump etc.)
        150g
        2. Net water volume (incl. sump etc.)
        3. Are you using a CaCO2 reactor or other technique
        Yes
        4. Are you using a PO4 reactor (how long, how long ago, etc.)
Yes, ever since my tank started a year and half ago
        5. Are you using Ozone
        Yes
        6. Are you using UV
        No
        7. What skimmer are you using (type, rated water volume)
        Beckett, underrated
        8. What are your actual PO4 and NO3 levels
        Undetectable using Salifert Testkit
        9. What are your actual Ca, Alk and Mg levels
        Ca=480ppm, kH=8.2, Mg= 1400ppm
        10. What filtration method do you use (refugium, DSB, Miracle Mud, etc.)
        Refugium with macroalgae
        11. Type of light (Watt, color temp, how old, etc.)
        2x250w BLV 10k 4 months old
        12. What corals do you keep
        SPS, LPS, sofites
        13. Tissue color (light or dark)
        Dark
        14. How long has the tank been running
        A year and half
        15. Why do you want to use the ZEOvit system
Keep nutrients at bay, improve SPS colours
        16. Any supplemental dosing (type, amount, why, etc.)
        Salifert AA - 6 drops a day, Strontium - 6 drops a day, Iodine - 6 drops a day, CV - 2 drops a day

Hi Reefanatic, with the ZEOvit method, 03 & P04 removers are not needed. Water clarity & P04 depletion will be performed by the ZEOvit. KW drip is also not used. Reduce your Ca level to 425-440 area, so that is in proportion to your KH. I'll assume 125g net volume for your system:

1)dose1/14ltrs.zeolites with a flow rate of ~125gph. A little more or less is fine. Cycle the stones on & off at 3hr. intervals, being sure the stones remain submerged when the zeo-filter is not operating. Pump-clean the zeolites 1-2 x's/day about 5-10 repetitions each time. Exchange the stones every 6wks.
2)dose 1 heaping-full measuring-Cup carbon in a filter sock[use K-Z carbon for best results], passively in your sump, kneaded 3x's/wk & exchanged monthly.
3)dose 3 drops each Bak/Food7 daily for 2wks. then just 2x's/wk. Dose these near the filter pump. Turn off your skimmer for 60min after dosing these. Bak needs to be refrigerated.
4)dose .1ml Start2 2x's/day. It is not necessary to turn off your skimmer when just dosing Start2.
          5)dose 3 drops AAHC daily;obtain Coral-Vitalizer, & dose 8 drops daily. C-V will need to be refrigerated.
6)after a couple of zeolites exchanges, the other zeo-supplements will be helpful. Keep us updated on your progress, Bob
