  • Carbon question

I have a question about which brand of carbon to use. I have easy access to Black Diamond, Seachem Matrix Carbon, and Kent Reef carbon. Will any of these products work well with the Zeo system or should I order a different brand?
While I am asking questions and if I have to order a new brand of carbon - I have been using BD - what other supplies should I order? I have the zeo rocks, zeobak, and zeofood7, and start 2 is on the way. If I am going to be shipping carbon I might as well stock up on what other additives I am going to need in the next 6 months like AAHC and PIF?
My live rock should be here next week and I will be ready to roll.

Ruth, I was using the KZ carbon but switched to BD a few months back. No Ill effects.. If I was going to recommend anything it would be the new Coral Vitalizer... AAHC would also be a good one to get.. KZ carbon is great but pricey...

Ruth, gosh, the question of carbon brands is a tuffie as I orginally used the K-Z carbon in phase 1 & early Phase 2, gradually, switched to BD[convenience]w/o seemingly any problems, except as I entered Phase 3, my colors were never "over the top". At the suggestion of Alexander, I switched back to totally using K-Z carbon--after a couple of exchanges with the K-Z carbon, my SPS colors began to standout. Even my wife remarked that she'd never seen my corals so colorful or witnessed such growth. I strongly recommend all using ZEOvit to use the K-Z carbon. Bob

Ok I will order the K-Z carbon and the AAHC. What about the PIF. Is this something that will benefit me in the next 6 months?

Ruth, when I first stated Zeo a year ago I was a non believer in the PIF. It took me almost a year to try it and now I have been using it for about a month. *I cannot vouch for any SPS health and color (b/c right now I have none in my display), but in my 2 clams the blue pigment has intensified dramatically, and I only dose it once a week. It will definately be a benifit.
