  • Here I go

Well not quite but just about. I finally got my plumbing finished on my 190 and have filled the tank up with water (and salt) and fired up the closed loop - so far no leaks . It is so cool the way that the Ocean Motions devise works. I am now waiting for my liverock to arrive which should be next week sometime. I also have to hook up my BK 400 EXT and calcium reactor and will then be looking for a dosing schedule. Patience is not my long suit usually but I am getting so close to getting this system up I can hardly wait to start with the Zeo system. Anyway here is what I have:
190g acrylic tank with black cutting board with a 90g fuge/sump
Closed loop through an ocean motions 4 way - each split twice so 8 outflows into the tank. Driven by a Sequence Hammerhead
    2 X 6200 Tunze's on a 7095 controller
    Bubble King 400EXT protien skimmer
Grotech calcium reactor with a gas reduction chamber
    3 X 400W MH (Geisemann bulbs) with 6 T-5's
    Zeovit reactor

This will be a BB tank which will be a first for me so it will be interesting to see how I like it. It will be stocked very lightly - the only fish I would really like is a Naso Tang and maybe a couple of other little colorful fish. Open to suggestions. It will be mainly SPS with maybe a couple of LPS. I am going to run this tank with the zeovit products so will be interesting to see how it works out.

Open to any suggestions on stocking, mods etc.

Sounds exactly like mine only 20% bigger on just about everything. I have a 150G, a 300EXT, two MH and 4 T5's. 2x 6200's on a 7095. OM driven by a Dart (but will be replaced by a RD as soon as I get all the piping situated). I'm running a Schuran JS1 though. I'm also way short on patience. ;-)

My tank is barebottom, actually I drilled 4 holes in the back bottom of the tank for the OM and those nozzles all point at the bottom to keep in detritus free.

Good luck, take pix, it sounds awesome!

I used the cutting board stuff in my tank to start off then a few friends suggested I go with just barebottom, crap gets underneath the starboard fairly easily and stays . So, even with a glass tank, I took out the starboard and went bare on the bottom. Just a thought for you. Can't wait to see pics in the future...have fun!!!!!!
        BTW, I have BK envy

I would look at maybe running abead of silicon around the edges and between the pieces so this can not happen.. Just a thought...

Going yo be an awesome setup for sure Ruth and with zeovit beautiful corals as well..

          Peace, Jeff

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I was wondering about the cutting board getting stuff caught under it but decided against siliconing it down after trying to silicone some partitions and baffles in a sump and ending up with more on myself and leaks in the seams etc etc. My thought is I can always remove it later if it is a problem and with all the rock etc. on top I am hoping nothing gets underneath and I can vacume what gets in the small spaces around the edges. It's too late now to change my mind as I have water in the tank now. Live rock should arrive next week so will take and post some pictures when I get it in the tank.
