  • Zeovit...how to?

There's still some mystery as to the actual "how to" and equipment needed for the application of this and related products like Zeostart for nitrate reduction. Can someone direct me to some really BASIC explanation of what I would need...and how to use this? Thanks. (I have a 120-gallon reef and I'm considering this regime.)

Hi OBCM, & welcome to ZEOvit .com.: Reading information regarding ZEOvit is contained in the stickies near the top of this forum...."Newcomer Introduction" & "General Review of ZEOvit" which contains the ZEOvit guide manual that all zeo-users should understand thoroughly. When you feel confident about the system, the last sticky["Tell us about your tank"] contains a questionnaire to be completed on a new thread for the purpose of recommending zeo-dosages by experienced zeo-users for your particular reef. Hi Whap, & welcome to ZEOvit.com Sure, many just use a canister filter to house the zeolites, which can be shaken up & down several times once or twice a day to remove the mulm, cleaning the stone surfaces. Bob

bob, i'm not too sure about that...before my current setup i used to run zoevit using cannister, but i notice at every change of media, some of my sps would STN/RTN.....

its only till much later, i realise that its the flow thorugh the caninster that could be causing the problem. My canister is runing at a rate of 1500l/hr, while i only have about .25 litre of zeovit in the canister....

Hi Tomni tang, & glad to have you here at ZEOvit.com. I used a canister filter for a time w/o any problems. Of course, the flow rate thru any zeo-filter must be ~100g/ hr/ltr.zeolite used & I valved my return accordingly. Bob

Measure the output of the cannister.

Take a 1L container and measure how much time is requires to fill up the container.
Lets say it takes 10 seconds to fill it up. Then divide 3600 (number of seconds in an hour) by 10, this will give you the flow rate in L/hr.

                    Hope that helps. Cheers
