  • A little help!!!

Hi guys well for past week and a half i've been having an algae problem its a brown green diatom looking algae on the glass and the sand all my parameters are in check let me put them:

    Temp 79-80 F
    Alk 7.2 dkh
    CA 445 ppm
    MG 1350 ppm
    Ammonia 0.0 ppm
    Nitrite 0.0 ppm
    Nitrate 0.0 ppm
    PH 8.2
Phosphate 0.0 ppm No Hanna, only salifert,Hagen,Seachem i have all 3 phosphate test kits all came out 0.0ppm

I have been dosing start2 1 drop daily and bak/food 2xs per week 1 drop each but for about 4 days i stopped the use of start2 to see if i have an overdose of start2 but to no avail the algae is still there(very light brown to green color) i also stopped the use of AAHC about 2 weeks ago my fish load is as follows 1 yellow tang about 2 1/2",3 blue reef chromis 1 1/2",2 royal gramma 2" and a six line wrasse 1" i feed them only one time per day and they eat everything they dont leave anything to decompose also i have 9 turbos snails and a red serpent star i do a 5% water change every week what could be wrong should i stop the use of start2 until the algae is gone also the fishes have been in my tank for about 2 months now i guess it was the zeo rock change maybe the tank is cycling again really i've tried everything in my power.Net water volume of my tank is 35 US gallons including sump and live rock. All of the corals are ok its the algae that bothers me.

    Thanks as always

Nestor, I would recommend you to use a silicate filter behind the RO unit. Maybe your RO unit is depleted and it is time for a module change ?

Nestor, do you run a silicate remover as the last instance of your RO unit ?

Hi Davide, distilled water should be fine. If you have a TDS tester, you might wish to check + check for P04's, Bob

nestor mi pequeno padawan tienes que cortar el uso del zeostar hasta que desaparesca el alga en el cristal por lo menos una semana y hacerle una prueba de fosfatos al agua que sale del reverse osmosis

Nestor, the problem then is not zeo-related. Can you tell us the TDS & P04/Si levels of your product water? Thnx. Bob

Im going to take the RO/DI unit to a friends house to check on SI and TDS concentration of the product water as for phosphates it tested 0.0 ppm with all the test kits that i have.

                            Thanks
