For you guys that have a huge tank, stocked with all of those beautiful corals, with all the top of the line equipement and all those thousands of dollars invested, Do you have any sort of insurance incase your home is damaged? I am not talking about if your tank crashes, but say if your house catches of fire, or is destroyed by a natural distaster.

You got it, I had my guy come out. I gave him a picture of everything I wanted covered. Got him a price list from 2 online stores and 1 local store, he took the 3 and came up with a avg price for each item and that is what he covered them for.
Pumps, Chiller, Lighting (not bulbs), power heads, heaters, skimmer, tank, stand, hood. He even got my live rock covered, I have no clue how he did it, but I lost power for 8 days 2 years ago, and I put in the claim for Water, rock, live sand, and some equipment and he covered it. Since its not a Pet (fish/corals are) they can cover it. They dont have too but I have a good guy here. American Family Insurance is the name of the company. I use to have State Farm but they suck, they wouldnt cover anything, since it was a "Hobby". So I told them I will take my home, 3 cars, motorcycle, and fish tanks to another company, they didnt believe me since my family has been with them for 30+ years. I found American Family and switched the next week! Never looked back..
ok that was more then you wanted but people dont know that you can just about cover everything. You pay more but all of the tank stuff I got covered added $100/yr, they were banking on me never using it, but I did. Wish I didnt have to, I lost way too much.

well if I told them I lost power they could call the power company, so i couldnt lie there. It covered accidental brakeage, like if I dropped something against the tank and it broke it was covered. Lightning surges were covered, basically everything but me lying to him.Comment
