I ran out od B ionic and need to get my ALK up from 7 to 8 i have baking powder is that the same as baking soda ?????

No. Baking powder is different. I use Arm & Hammer washing soda to raise alk. Make sure you use the non scented kind. You can make your own by baking regular baking soda in the over for awhile. Randy in the RC chemistry forum had the method spelled out.

Just checked rc and the method for making washing soda is: Spread 2 1/4 cups baking soda onto a baking tray. Bake this at 300F for one hour.

If baking is not an option, don't panic, the baking is just to remove some Co2 content. If you don't bake it, you will get a rise in Co2 in the tank resulting in a temporary drop in PH.Comment
