    Tom, that is totally not a true blue squammy but a squammy X gigas hybrid which is way cool. Naturally occuring hybrids of these species are non-existant to my knowledge so it was prolly an intentional captive cross. I bet it grows at a phenomenal rate. It kinda reminds me of the time I saw what appeared to be perfect derasas with giant squammy like scutes on their shells, those were weird but aside from that, the shell shape and convolutions and the mantle were completely derasa.

    I just checked out your RC thread and your clam definitely appears to have greatly reduced scutes, supporting my thoughts on the origin of this clam. can you corroborate this and any other features that might support that this is a squammy X gigas hybrid?
