  • now that I can get your iron supplement...

My local zeovit supplier didn't have your iron supplement in stock for a while, so I went ahead and bought some of the Kent stuff. I know this is kind of like asking the guy from the Porsche dealership if I should hold off on the 911 while I tool around in my Ford, but should I go ahead and use up all of the Kent stuff before I buy some of your stuff, or is there a significant difference between the two? I don't have a problem with tossing the Kent stuff if it's way inferior.

I would stick with the zeo and use small doses

Hi Earwicker, you may use Kent's Fe but I would recommend the dose be 25-50% of the K-Z's iron guide dosing recommendations. I can tell you that it is not the same nor will it produce the same affects on our corals. Bob

        Hi Bob,
What results have you seen with the zeovit iron supplement ? I have never tried it.

        Regards
        Brendan

Hi Brendan, K-Z's Fe deepens the colors of all the corals, especially the greens blues & reds/pinks. I use ~1/4 the quantity of the amount of my PIF dosage. Too much Fe will darken the corals & in heavy excess will cause a algae bloom. Bob

Hi Bob, Thanks for the info. Is this the case if your PO4 reading is below say 0.03 on the Hanna. I presume if you have higher nutrients it will just cause the corals to go browner ?
            Regards

Hi Brendan, as with all the zeo-supplements, Fe is more effective in nutrient-poor conditions, with less propensity toward darkening. Most of my 1st yr. on ZEOvit, I did not possess a Hanna so I can not give you an exact Hanna range but I did notice some blues browning initially but could not discern it's effect as I was in Phase 1 & 2. Once in Phase 3, that's where one can see a real difference in coral color changes with titrating doses of these zeo-supplements. Bob

Is it beneficial in any other way than color? IE, growth?

Hi Alastair, yes, in proper doses, Fe nourishes the zoox, especially in nutrient-poor waters wher they are in lower population & therefore, enhances health & growth Bob
