  • Can i add more fish?

HI, right now in my 125g. aquarium with around 55g sump, i have:

    1 Naso tang (6")

    1 Rabbitfish (6")

1 Sailfin Tang red sea (6")

and 1 tomatoe clown (3") > its a biggin and pretty aggressive

well well, what i want to add is:

    a hippo tang

and.. some fairy/flasher wrasse....is this possible?

    thx

I'm not a tang expert (so why am I even answering??? Just tryin' to help!)...but I was under the impression that tangs need lots of swimming space. As an owner of a 125, I just can't see that many tangs in a tank that size.
    Just my 4 1/2 cents.

In a 125? I think you may already be cramping your fish. I don't think adding another tang would be a smart idea at all, theres going to be very little room for them to fish around and you're going to end up with stressed out fish.

first off the tangs in there are already too big for that tank. when they grow up they will not be happy.

so do not add anymore tangs.

fairy wrasses are VERY nice, but the porblem is you did not stock your tank right. the tangs should have gone in last. you can try to add a coupel fairy wrasses, but more than likely your tangs will beat up on them because you should have put tangs in last.

also i am not sure if you know this or not bu fairy wrasses are vewry expensive like 100 bucks and those are the cheap ones. so i am not sure if you want to risk it, the tangs coule really beat them up.

I don't have too many issues with tangs being aggressive to wrasses-

As for the tangs, since your talking about a hippo - which is a totally different body type then any of the other tangs - You may have a little initial arguing but not too much.

The only tang that is possibly out of place is the Naso - which is an open water swimmer. However, with all my years in the hobby and the fish business, no one has ever called me to say that their fish physically outgrew the tank. Fish grow to the size of the aquarium.

For the hippo though I wouldn't recommend a tiny or small - Get a med lrg one.

My FOWLR has 6-7 Hippos, 4 purples, 2 yellows, Blond Naso and a lightning wrasse.

MY Reef tank has 7 purples, 2 Yellow Belly Hippos, 2 Yellows, Chevron, Rosy Fin Fairy Wrasse, Possum Wrasse, Leopard Wrasses - And there is no issues between the wrasses and the tangs.

this is a non-zeo lps/softie tank btw...the only lighting is one atentic vho and one white vho..its been set up since mabe the end of july and beleive it or not all the corals are thriving under those vho's (most of them have been there since the biginning) hrmm that was random information...

anyhow i just wanted some blue in the tank...mabe i can replace the hippo tang with some of those true blue reef chromis? (the kind in florida and caribbian...not damsels, not the green true chromis either..i noticed these arent found at stores much for some reason)
