  • Setting up my 65

Getting ready to set-up my 65 mixed reef. Thinking of going the zeo route. What would I need and how much zeo would I use? Also what would you use as filtration skimmer, reactor, etc?

    thanks

Hi TTC, with ZEOvit method P04 removers, resins & UV are not used. ZEOvit will replace all of these nicely. A efficient skimmer is a must though. A DSB with ZEOvit is fine --just use good husbandry techniques. Again, know the ZEOvit guide inside & out for a full appreciation of this wonderful method. For your system, I recommend the following:
1)dose 3/4 Cup carbon in a filter-sock, passively in your sump, kneaded 3x's/wk. & changed monthly.
2)dose 3/4 ltr. zeolites at a flow rate of 60-75gph. Pump clean the stones 1-2 x's/day. Cycle the stones on & off at 3hr. intervals. Exchange these in 4 wks. then repost for dosage adjustments.
3)dose 3 drops Bak/Food7 daily for 2wks. then 3 drops each 2x's/wk. Turn off the skimmer for 60min after dosing these. Dose these in front of the zeo-filter pump, when it's operating.
4)dose 3 drops Start2 2x's/day daily. Dose these near the filter pump when operating--no need to turn off the skimmer when just dosing Start2. Plz. ask questions, Bob
