  • 270 gallons project, HELP!!

Hi guys, I'm planning a new tank, I need your help for be sure that hardware is ok and have ideas for aquascaping
    Planning new tank:
I want to do a in-wall tank (showing two sides) with fish-room in the back side

    Measures:
    70 L x47Wx23H
water level will be around 21

    Live Rock: around 300 pounds
SSB: around 40 gallons (300 pounds)
    enough?

    Filtering:
    Schuran 200
    ZEOvit

    Water movement:
    Wave box
    3x tunze 6080

    Temperature:
    2 x 300 watts jager
    chiler: Teco RA640

    Misc:
    IKS with:
conductivity module, water-level module, pH-module, temperature module
    Ca reactor Schuran JetStream 1
Grotech EPIII and IV (not in use, thinking in tray to dose zeo automatically any sugestion?-)

    Lighting:
    I'm in doubts with it
    I have a pendant-light yet with 3 hqi 250 W and 2 t5s 54W.
I'm evaluating the option to install 12 t5s (80 Watts). Why? as my knowledge is cheaper to mantain (less electricity bill -around 40% of nominal watts?-). Other argument is the tank width will not be enough for a pendant-light.
But should be enough for have ZEOcolors?
If you think that should be a good idea on t5s, please what combination of tubbes, did you use?

Please give me your opinion, This project is only on my head and if my flat structure permit it will run a soon as posible. My wife OK will be if it's ready before crhistmas!

    Thanks for your help.

    Josep

curious what you mean by water level will be 21"? the whole 47" tall thing would be really hard to work in... espically if you want to go with SPS?

oh ok thats what i thought, haha!

that sounds be a very nice tank!

the only thing i might ask or suggest is whats the skimmer rated for?

the main thing is to over size it, i am not fimilar with that brand, i mean i have heard they are a good skimmer just dont know what its rated for....

other than that it should be a very nice tank!!!!!

make sure to post some pics for us to see!

As Schuram tells the skimmer is "For aquaria up to 2000l " (+- 530 gallons)

Hi Josep, from other reefs that I've seen pictures of that are run on only T5's, these would appear to do fine, but I've personally never used T5's. Maybe others with experience will chime in. Bob

T5's should be fine. I would love to see a tank built on T5's. They are getting very popular now. What kind of corals and fish do you plan to have in this tank? That way we would know what kind of system would better fit your ideas.

With a tank height of 23", T5s will work fine. Especially when you are 12x80w!!
