  • Where would you be without the Internet?

Just curious.. we all know there were saltwater tank hobbyists and a handful of SPS keepers before the Internet times. The Internet came from the military and what if it wasnt made public like it is now? Do you think we would be where we are at now?

absolutely not. Before the internet, I tried salt water and failed miserably. Once I found the internet and R/C - I was able to research, learn, and plan what it took and achieve a successful salt tank

Yeah I have to agree I don't think the hobby would have expanded as much as it has and Matt would never have met me and if you ask him, he'd be at a loss without my friendship :P

              Sure you would...liar.

I think the entire world would be different if we didn't have the internet as we do now. I think there's still a lot to come from the internet, I mean internet2 is still somewhat of a baby but it's pretty nifty.

About 70% of my business comes via the internet... so in short without it I'm sure it would be "No reef for me". Hell I might have to get a real job.

I feel that a lot of the competition comes from the Internet too. As in who has the latest and greatest, the most creative ideas, and so on.. it really motivates you more to do more to your tank. Imagine if the only people who you talk too about your tank was your family and MAYBE some friends here and there. With the Internet, you have TONS of people to talk about and it helps keep that drive going.

And like steve said, its definitely a great business tool. Sometimes you may not find locals in your area who have the same interests as you.. but around the world, im sure there are tons.

Scott, I remember when I was still doing dialup on my fast 14.4K modem connecting to BBS's. Before that I was doing 2400baud. Being a sysop back then made you powerful.
