So my stand shows up today. I'm real excited. The first tangible step towards my 10x3x2 dream. The stand is cut for a 10x2 tank....uh, oh. this is steel frame beast. The thing is beautiful. BUT it's 10x2x40" not 10x3....

Well, no. We're going to build an "add on" to go behind the stand. Then we'll cut out one of the supporting posts in the back of the current stand to make space for the sump. Hopefully the sump will then fit. It's gonna be a pain in the ass b/c I'm gonna have a "bar" running down the middle of the bottom of the stand. Most likely I'm gonna just have to make a "false floor" for the stuff in the stand, but then I lose 2" of interior height. Not a problem I guess except for the skimmer, but it'll still fit. It may force me to be more elaborate with the stuff I plumb through the wall. Originally I was only going to stick my chiller through the exterior wall. Now I may get more exotic. Nick gallonage is like 450. Probably another hundred or so in the sump.10x3x2 FOWLR (for now)

First off, damn that tank is my FAVORITE dimension. Who is making it, the same folks that did tedinator & algaeguy's stuff?
I'm not a structural engineer but personally I'd have it re-done. The steel really isn't all that expensive, probably $300 max or so and the labor should be free if they made the error. Of course I don't know the story but I'd still have it re-done. Depending on how the bottom will be chopped up - it is SO AWESOME to have the 36" width. Unless you have a dedicated wet-room.
I can't wait to see pix. I'm having a lot swim tank done next year - I was planning on 10x2x2. I wonder if I could get a steel stand cheap somewhere. ;-)Comment

No the tank is not being built by the guy that did Scott and Teds tank. That guy screwed up an order after that and wouldn't make good on it. My tank is being done by Kara Kreations an outfit out here.
It'll take too long to redo the whole thing. There will be plenty of support. Actually more support this way than the original idea, but more "junk" in the way.
It will still be 10x3x2 in the end.10x3x2 FOWLR (for now)
