  • Spawning Clam Kills

    Hi there everyone

One of my friends recently had his giant clam spawn however exciting it was, we only later found out that this spawning then killed, himself and most of the other clams in the tank!!!!
After doing a little research we found out that if a clam spawns male gametes that it can kill the other clams and itself if the water is not changed everyday and HEAVY skimming is needed.

Does anyone know anything about this, ?????

    Thx

O2manyfish had a clam spawn incident in his system that basically wiped out all the acros.

Hi Christiaan, generally this is not a problem but one spawn can set off another, then another.....not good. Big swings in tank parameters & using HGH have been indicted. Bob
