Hi, my name is Glenn i am 36 years old and live in denmark.
    I Will in 2015 be starting a 350l aquaium.(zeovit)
I have been reading alot about the zeo metode an still am.
My plan is to follow the KZ zeovitguide.
My question is: how importent is it to use zeofood7 during startup?
I read that some begin using later on. Is that correct?

    On edvance thanks
    Glenn.

    Hi Glenn,

    Welcome to the forum!

Food should be added when you have corals in your tank.
But it will not have negative effects when you add some drops during start up...

Yes, people do seem to not use it at the very beginning of starting ZEOvit. It's a source of amino acids etc for the corals so if you already have a high level of nutrients in the water (no3, po4 etc) then it is not needed as the corals will get what they need from this.

Once you hit ultra low nutrient levels then you need to start dosing zeofood.

        Hi Danny,

        Yes and no...
Food is not only to nourish corals - it is also important for the micro organisms!
There are a lot of ingredients to stabilize and develop the biological processes.
It was one of the Original and first basic supplements and I would recommend to use it.
High nutrients are not really a alternative for the corals.
Food rather will help developing a environment that can reduce the nutrients.

But you are right so far as to use not too much in the beginning.
Anyway - it contains many things corals like and need.
So after adding corals you should start using it.

When entering the ULNS levels, you will have to rethink many things.
In this stage Food alone will eventually not be enough for a good stocked tank

        regards
        George

          Zeofood7

Thanks for the anwsers, it makes sense.
But you say less amount of zeofood in the beginning? Should I still follow the zeoguide compared to dosing quantity?

          Sorry for my spelling
          Glenn.

Hi Danny, sounds like you start a complete new system from the scratch, there is a good step by step guide for the cycle:

              Zeofood7

              Hi G. Alexander.
Do not know if it's me think of , but yes I have plans to start a 350l zeosystem .
I feel myself more comfortable to follow the zeoguide. The result is the same thing , just with a little longer running.

concerning my questions about zeofood7 ? I shall dispense less than zeoguiden prescribes during start / brakein or just follow it?

              Regards
              Glenn

Just to give you a better feeling, this is published from the manufacturer, same way:

                http://www.korallen-zucht.de/pages-e...t-14-days.html

I would not recommend to use ZeoFood at this stage, the cycle recommendation of the guide is not up to date.

Zeo start, bac , and Sp is what you will need...any foods or color enhancing supplements are added when system is uln stable and depending on the colors of the corals..learn what each additives do and give the system time to mature and the basic 4 is working well the way it should. ..the proper bacteria needs time to develop in your tank for it to work properly on consuming the n and p godluck

                      Skimmer on/off

Should i be running the skimmer on and off during the 14 Day cycle or for how long?
                      Completly new system.

                      Then after 6-8 weeks?

First exchange 50% of zeorocks then 90%?

Start and SP should be dosed as described in step 4 before and after every exchange?

Alot more information about my system will come when i start to built it. Fore now i am prepering my self to run a succesful zeotank.
I know that i can find anwsers to my questions by reading and searching this great forum, (I do) i just need confirmation that i am getting it right?

                        Hi,

Looks like I'm a little misunderstood. I've been doing Zeo for around a week and I'm seeing small signs of improvement already. I'm only using the zeo stones, zeobak and zeo start. Should I be adding zeofood? I do already have it, I have just been following the instructions given in my thread

                        http://www.zeovit.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32956

And no mention of zeofood there so im not using it

                          Hi Danny
You don't need to use it yet, but later when your tank runs stabil and ulns you can use it as a foodsource.

                          Thats how i see it.
                          Glenn.

Hi Glenn, run both the skimmer and the zeovit reactor continuously. You can stop the skimmer for 2 hours while doing the first, initial dosage if you like to.

                              Reactor, not skimmer.

Sorry of course i ment the zeoreactor. I will run it continuously
                              Thanks.
